Postpartum Doula Support

In-home postpartum care for mothers recovering after birth - including C-section recovery, NICU stays, and emotionally overwhelming starts. I come to you, so you are not doing this alone.

This is for you if…

You may be:

  • feeling far from home, family, or familiar support

  • exhausted, overwhelmed, or emotionally full

  • struggling to rest, eat, or find rhythm in your days

  • caring for a newborn while still recovering yourself

  • moving through a birth experience that feels intense, unexpected

This is not a phase you are meant to carry alone.

My approach

You are first held, heard, and seen.

Before anything else, your system needs safety; not effort. When you feel supported and not alone, your nervous system begins to soften and recover. From there, everything else becomes possible.

How I support you

Support is practical, emotional, and embodied; depending on what you need that day:

  • calm emotional presence so you can exhale

  • baby care so you can rest or sleep

  • nourishing meals and light household support

  • warmth, touch, and gentle body-based support when needed

  • grounding care to help your nervous system settle

I support both you and your baby; while you recover.

Why it matters

Postpartum is not meant to be done alone. Especially not after a difficult birth, C-section, NICU stay, or when you are far from your usual support system. You need care that stays with you for a while; not advice, not pressure, but presence.

FAQ

Have a question?

  • I trained as a birth and postpartum doula through years of hands-on experience supporting families, and I am finalising my postpartum doula certification at Doula Training International to complement my practical knowledge.

I have also trained in Ayurvedic postpartum massage with Ombretta Dettori, moxa therapy with ImasTrainingen, and Slow Rebozo techniques.

  • You can hire a postpartum doula at any timeβ€”during pregnancy or after birthβ€”but planning ahead allows us to shape the support that best fits your needs. If you are birthing away from family, hiring a doula during pregnancy ensures that when the time comes, you already have a steady presence to hold you in those early, tender weeks.

  • Every family is unique, and so is the support I offer. Some days, it may be about caring for youβ€”preparing nourishing meals, offering rebozo wrapping for comfort, or simply listening as you process your birth. Other times, it’s practical guidanceβ€”helping with newborn care, breastfeeding, or adjusting to new routines. I also support partners and siblings in their transition, ensuring that everyone in your home feels grounded and connected during this time of change.

  • The right doula feels like home. Someone who sees you, understands your values, and holds space for your needs. I encourage you to meet with different doulas, ask about their philosophy, and trust how you feel in their presence. Do they listen? Do they make you feel safe? Finding the right doula is about finding someone who aligns with your vision for this sacred time.

  • A Kraamzorg is a specific type of postpartum care in the Netherlands that provides medical and practical support after birth, focusing on the mother’s physical recovery and newborn care. They typically assist with breastfeeding, check the baby’s health, and help with household chores.

A postpartum doula, on the other hand, offers more emotional and holistic support, focusing on nurturing the mother’s emotional well-being, helping with baby care, and providing practical assistance (like meal prep or running errands). A doula’s role is less clinical and more about empowering the mother through the early days of parenthood.

  • A postpartum doula focuses on supporting the entire family during the early postpartum period, especially the birthing parent, by providing emotional care, practical help, and guidance on newborn care. A nanny, on the other hand, is typically hired for ongoing childcare and primarily focuses on the baby or children, often without the family-centered support a doula provides.

  • I usually work during the day, but I can adjust my schedule occasionally depending on my family needs. We’ll work together to find times that suit you and your family, whether it's during the day, evenings, or even overnight.

  • In the Netherlands, postpartum doula services are generally not covered by basic health insurance. However, some complementary insurance policies may offer reimbursement for certain types of doula support. It’s a good idea to check with your insurance provider to see if they offer coverage for postpartum doula services under any additional plans or wellness packages.
