About

I’m Amélie

With both French and Dutch roots, I was born in the Netherlands and raised in the vibrant, multicultural neighborhoods of southern Paris. My life journey has taken me across the world - including several years in Cape Town, where I met my partner and experienced the transformative joy of giving birth at home to our two sons in 2016 and 2017.

In 2018, we settled in Amsterdam, where we are raising our multilingual and multicultural family. These rich experiences, combined with my own path into motherhood, have deeply shaped who I am and fuel my passion as a birth and postpartum doula.

Today, I support families in Amsterdam, Haarlem, Alkmaar, Purmerend, Zaandam, Hoorn and surrounding areas, offering warm, bilingual care in French, Dutch, and English. My background allows me to connect with diverse families, providing compassionate guidance and practical support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey.

My pursuit

Land of Mothers is a sanctuary where every mother is honoured, nurtured, and empowered, with ceremonies and rituals that celebrate her journey and connect her to her deepest self.

How would I define myself?

I approach every person with openness and cultural humility, recognizing that I don’t have all the answers and am always learning from each unique journey. Growing up in the diverse suburbs of Paris, surrounded by people from all walks of life, taught me to listen, appreciate and learn from each person I meet.

I am deeply receptive and attuned, naturally sensing others' emotions and needs through careful observation and active listening. As an HSP and empath, I create a space where people feel truly seen, heard, and understood.

I’m real. Honest conversations are at the heart of my practice, and I’m here to talk about things as they are.

I’m relatable. Like you, I’m a mother living far from my homeland, finding my way and striving to create a loving home for my family.

I’m reliable. Whether it’s my Capricorn nature or my years working in corporate roles, I believe in keeping my word. Trust, accountability, and quality of service are not just words to me, they’re the foundation of my work.

Why this calling?

Giving birth to my sons profoundly changed me

My journey began with the empowering births of my sons, which awakened a deep calling to support mothers, especially those far from home. Though I felt this pull as early as 2016, the path wasn’t easy. Between raising little ones without much support and balancing work, the dream of becoming a doula seemed distant.

In 2021, I left my life as consultant in innovation to reconnect with what truly mattered, working with children and families as I studied and became an Early Childhood Educator.

By 2024, I knew it was time. I launched Land of Mothers to give mothers the support and sense of connection I’d longed for. My hope is to be the caring presence I once searched for—helping you feel understood, nurtured and honoured through your journey into motherhood.

I am drawn to the rhythm of the waves and the music of the ocean, to the stillness of nature as I walk, and to the dance of light and shadows in life’s simplest moments.

I find solace in the quiet inspiration of libraries, joy in the boundless wonder of children, and purpose in caring and being of service to others.
