Prenatal Childbirth Education

online & in person

Most parents don’t realise this upfront, but childbirth education isn’t about learning what will happen - it’s about gaining the confidence, clarity, and practical tools to make decisions in the moment, so you don’t feel powerless when it matters most.

What we’ll cover

Every session is personalised to your needs, experience, and questions, so you leave feeling confident, prepared, and supported.

  • Understand why the environment matters and what you specifically need to give birth safely and confidently.

  • Explore hormones, sensations, and stages of early labor, with guidance tailored to how you respond and what works best for you.

  • Learn how gravity, positions, and movement affect labor. Understand not just dilation, but your baby’s descent and rotation, how your pelvis opens, and simple exercises you can do throughout pregnancy to support an easier birth.

  • Discover natural pain management techniques that suit your preferences and comfort level.

  • Understand the medications and interventions offered in Dutch hospitals, discuss their benefits and risks, and explore how each fits with your personal birth vision.

  • Practical partner support, including breathing, pressure points, acupressure, hip squeezes, and rebozo techniques, adapted to what works for you as a team.

  • Guidance on the first days after birth, partner roles, and nutrition for both baby and mama, tailored to your situation and goals.

Have a question?

  • Hospital classes and private sessions serve different purposes.
Hospital-based prenatal classes often focus on protocols, timelines, and general information. In our private sessions, we focus on you - your unique body, your concerns and your preferences, and how to navigate birth with confidence. It’s a more personal, in-depth, and supportive experience.

  • I’m happy to come to you for in-person sessions within 35 km of Purmerend. I serve Amsterdam, Landsmeer, Zaandam, Pumerend, Hoorn and Alkmaar.
If you’re located more than 15 km away, I ask a small travel contribution of €0.25 per km.

  • Most parents take childbirth education classes in the third trimester.
At this stage, the birth feels more real and relevant, and it’s the perfect time to prepare your birth plan. It also helps keep the information and practical techniques fresh in your mind for when labour begins.

  • Yes, very much so.
These sessions are practical and hands-on. We’ll explore breathing, visualisation and mantra, supportive positions, acupressure, counterpressure, and rebozo techniques; so you leave feeling ready and supported for birth.

  • Each session is supported by a detailed presentation, along with additional links to relevant videos.
You’ll also receive book recommendations, and at the end of the sessions I share extra resources and documents - so you have everything you need and nothing is missed.

  • Absolutely.
We’ll cover everything you need to create a clear and informed birth plan. We’ll also go through it together before your appointment with your midwife, so you feel confident discussing your preferences.
